Candle E-commerce Redesign
An unofficial redesign concept for a premium home-fragrance range, with brand identifiers deliberately removed.
This one is our own design idea rather than client work. We created it to show how we would approach this kind of business. It was not commissioned by anyone, and we are not claiming any results from it.

Project type: Unofficial redesign concept Project status: Showcase project Public presentation: Brand and product identifiers intentionally removed
Overview
This project explores how a premium candle and home-fragrance business could present a small product collection through a more refined editorial e-commerce experience.
The redesign began from an existing product direction. The public portfolio version removes the original brand identity, product identifiers and identifying information so that the work can be evaluated as a design exercise without implying a client relationship or official commission.
The brief
Reimagine a premium candle storefront that can:
- Establish a distinctive visual identity.
- Make the product range feel curated rather than crowded.
- Communicate craftsmanship and care.
- Help shoppers understand scent options.
- Support direct ordering.
- Use visual storytelling to communicate atmosphere.
- Make the final purchase step feel natural.
Our approach
We designed the experience as an editorial commerce journey:
Brand mood → Product collection → Product value → Story → Social proof → Order
The product is still central, but the visitor first gets enough visual and emotional context to understand what makes the collection desirable.
Design decisions
Split-screen hero
The opening combines a large product image with a strong editorial headline, creating immediate tension between storytelling and commerce.
Sensory language
Headlines such as “Made with care. Designed to last.” position the candles around quality and feeling instead of relying purely on specifications.
Curated collection
The concept presents three primary scents as a focused collection, supporting the impression of intentional selection.
Warm product photography
The visual treatment is designed to make the product feel present inside a real environment rather than like an isolated catalogue object.
Founder story
The origin-story section introduces a more human explanation for why the product exists, helping a small product brand feel personal rather than anonymous.
Social proof
Testimonials are positioned after the product and story sections so they reinforce confidence once the visitor has enough context.
Embedded order experience
The final section places product selection and ordering into the page rather than forcing visitors through an abrupt transition into a separate transaction flow.
Why we designed it this way
Physical products such as candles are sensory.
A website cannot reproduce scent, warmth or texture directly, so the interface has to communicate those qualities through imagery, language, composition and context.
The redesign therefore treats storytelling as part of the commerce experience.
What this project demonstrates
This project demonstrates Fortsrex’s ability to rethink an existing e-commerce experience through art direction, product storytelling, content hierarchy and conversion-focused UX.
Outcome
This is an unofficial redesign concept. It is not presented as work commissioned by, endorsed by or produced in partnership with the original product brand.
No sales or conversion outcomes are claimed.
