Overview

Oyo Waste Summit is a recurring environmental event bringing together stakeholders across waste management, circular economy, sustainability, recycling, policy, business, academia and climate action.

The digital experience needed to do much more than announce an event. It needed to communicate the summit’s purpose, programme, speakers and participation opportunities while giving different audiences a clear path to tickets, exhibition bookings and sponsorship.

The live website currently presents the third edition, taking place September 23–24, 2026 in Oyo State, with an in-person and livestream format and the theme “Food Waste: Local Action as the Foundation of Global Change.”

The brief

Create a public-facing event platform that can:

  • Explain the summit and its relevance quickly.
  • Present the current edition, theme and event format.
  • Make the programme easy to explore.
  • Introduce speakers and contributors.
  • Support ticket discovery and registration.
  • Support exhibition participation and sponsorship enquiries.
  • Connect the current edition to the summit’s previous editions.
  • Encourage visitors to move from awareness to participation.

Our approach

We treated the website as an event platform rather than a static event flyer.

The experience is organised around the main questions an attendee, partner or sponsor is likely to ask:

What is this? → Why does it matter? → Who is involved? → What is happening? → How can I participate?

From there, the interface provides several paths depending on intent. An attendee can move toward tickets and the programme; an exhibitor can move toward booth booking; a sponsor can move toward partnership information.

Design decisions

Clear proposition at the top

The opening experience establishes the summit, edition, dates, theme and primary participation actions before the visitor has to scroll.

Multiple conversion paths

The website does not assume every visitor has the same objective. Ticketing, exhibition and sponsorship are surfaced as distinct actions instead of being buried inside general contact information.

Programme as a primary content experience

The event schedule is treated as core content. Sessions are grouped by date and presented chronologically so visitors can understand the shape of the event before attending.

Speaker credibility

The speaker area gives people and their roles a prominent place in the experience. This helps visitors evaluate the depth and relevance of the summit without relying solely on promotional language.

Continuity across editions

Previous summit editions help communicate that Oyo Waste Summit is an ongoing platform rather than a one-off event.

Participation beyond the conference room

The experience also communicates activities such as the exhibition, buy-back programme, masterclass and sustainability-focused programming, expanding the definition of the event beyond the main agenda.

Why we designed it this way

Events are time-sensitive experiences with a lot of information competing for attention.

The design therefore prioritises clarity, discoverability and action. A visitor should be able to move from understanding the summit to finding the information that matters to them without having to decode the interface.

What this project demonstrates

This project demonstrates Fortsrex’s ability to design a content-rich digital experience where a website has to serve attendees, speakers, exhibitors, sponsors and organisers at the same time.

Outcome

This is a live client project. The public case study focuses on the experience, structure and design decisions rather than inventing performance metrics.

Where verified analytics or client-approved outcomes are available, they can be added later as a separate results section.
